Lena Fern's Dream

This blog is about my dream travel experience; a project that I have dreamed up on my own, but has become a reality through a volunteer organization called The Humanity Exchange.My destination is Lima, Peru to volunteer with an agency that serves street children. This trip is a culmination of my past experiences and my future aspirations. The fee for this program, which includes food, lodging, pre-departure and in-country support, airfare, language classes, and organization placement is $2,150. In addition to the program fees, I am also attempting to raise $500 to put towards soccer/recreational equipment to donate to the children at Jovenes de Buena Voluntad. Any contribution that you are able to make will be sincerely appreciated not only by me, but also by those who I will serve in Lima. Even if you can't contribute, I hope you will find my dream inspiring and create your own to pursue!

MY YUTE FUNDRAISER May 5, 2010

May 1st was the annual My Yute soccer camp fundraiser. This year we had a jerk chicken cookoff at the Linden Street Brewery. The fundraiser went really well. My trip was featured at the event as a project that MY YUTE is contributing to. They will be donating a number of soccer balls and other equipment that I will will bring to Peru. Thanks so much to friends, teammates, and dad who have contributed to my trip! At this time I have raised $880 towards the target goal of $2150!
